His View

If you have ever gone on an airplane, whether a commercial jet or on a smaller one like with my father-in-love, you know that the view from above can be spectacular.

You're a thousand miles above everyone and everything. It all looks so small in comparison. The feeling is incredible. You have the unique privilege to see in a way that nobody else can see at that moment.

I recently had that privilege when our friend took us over Niagara Falls for our son's birthday. While we were flying, I continuously thought that God is so much bigger than all of it, and He has a much higher view. He can see EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Not only that, He can see inside our hearts and minds.

I looked down from the plane and thought to myself, "Everyone seems so small and insignificant from up here. If I think that, what must God think?” Thankfully, our God is not me. He is so much bigger than all of this, and His ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are far above our thoughts.

But our great, powerful and omniscient God does not think like that. He values, nay treasures us, highly. He treasures us so much that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him would not die, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

When I think back to the most recent sermon that we heard, I realize that we often think of ourselves alone in this battle. We are so immersed in our circumstances, that it darkens our minds and allows us to see nothing else. It’s like when you’re in the midst of a corn maze. All you can see is the corn in front of you, but from a higher vantage point, you discover that there is a way out.

Our perils, trials, sufferings, or what have you seem to cast a shadow on God. However, this is not possible, because our God is bigger than we can truly know and He cannot be overshadowed.

Here is my encouragement, as you wake up in the morning and prepare for the battles that will come, don the armor of God. While you’re putting on the belt of truth, fit yourself with the truth that the Warrior goes ahead of you, He walks beside you and He protects behind you. You are never alone in the battles of this life. Hey, I need this reminder just as much as any of us.

Don’t let your small perspective make you believe for even a second that your God is small. Focus on your large and in change God and your perspective will rise to where He is. He will give you eyes to see as He does.
