About Me

Howdy y'all!

A friend of my mom's presented me with a journal and told me to write down any of the emotions I was feeling. I treasured that.

I met an English teacher who helped me blossom as I entered high school. She showed me that I could use writing to show emotion. I wrote my first poem with raw emotion about my dad. A dream was born in me to be an author.

Fast forward to 2012. I never stopped writing, but most of it was short stories or narratives that connected my heart to Jesus. In 2017, the beginning of a novel began to grow in my heart. It wasn't until I participated in National Novel Writing Month of November 2019, that I finally chose to identify as a writer. I completed the first draft of a novel that seems to be turning into a series. That has certainly helped me move forward in my writing. And here I am, being a writer and not giving up my dream.

My name is Tammany. I'm a crazy American who married a crazy Canadian. We have one beautiful, intelligent, compassionate and crazy boy.

I was born in Jackson, Mississippi, hence the Southern greeting. I have lived all over the States and travelled to over thirty countries.

I spent most of my life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the exception now being Ontario.

I have been writing since I was roughly eight. I would share my dreams because I often remembered them and my parents suggested I write them down. I think they mostly got tired of hearing about dreams that lasted throughout the day. (because things during the day would trigger memories).

I took that to heart and started writing. It wasn't only my dreams though. I created stories. I have always had a love for the phrase "what if...?"

At that pivotal part of my life, I also chose to give my life over to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I still struggle to submit my will. (I mean, who doesn't?) I had great passion and fire for Jesus. I tried to share Him with my friends frequently. This included speeches, inviting them to church, playing Christian music, and taking them to plays that presented the Gospel.

When I was 10, my world was rocked to its core. My father developed stomach cancer. It was a whirlwind of hospital visits, special outings with Dad and scary memories. On August 11, 1997, my father succumbed to the disease.

Things changed drastically after that, with moving states, changing houses at least twice, floating through churches and shifting friends frequently.
