Misunderstood Valentine

Men, come read this. I know Valentine's Day has passed, but think of this as preparation for next year.

Listen, I'm not saying that every man gets it wrong when it comes to loving their significant other. I'd say the majority of them don't understand.

It's not even about getting chocolates, flowers or taking your loved one out on a date.

We love those things, but anyone can do that.

This is why on Valentine's Day, our anniversary, Christmas and our birthday we find it so important. We want to know that the man we chose still chooses us.

We want to be showered in your love. We want to know that you still care about us the way that you did when we first started dating. We want to know that you're still taking time to get to know us. We want your love.

If you go to the grocery store and buy us roses, you obviously care about us or at least the relationship.

It's not about spending exorbitant amounts of money, it's about the intentionality.

Do you know her favorite way to relax? Do you know her favorite treat? Do you know that she doesn't like a particular flower because it triggers a bad memory? Do you know how she likes her coffee or tea? These are all examples of how to love your woman.

If you go to our favorite store and buy us a bath bomb of our favorite scent and a fluffy towel, that says that you listen us to and care deeply about what makes us happy.

Get to know her and USE that information to pour love on her. Believe me, she'll be more impressed that you thought of HER likes and dislikes not just buying Reid's chocolates. (Although Reid's chocolates are amazing.)

Just a side note: My husband didn't do anything wrong. That's not what spurred this blog post.
