The Correct Door

I often ride the bus and today at one of the stops, some people disembarked from the back door and another man hopped on through those same doors. I think he thought no one noticed.

Before I had a chance to decide if I would say anything, the bus driver addressed him. She was kind, but forceful. "You can't come through the back door." The man gave an excuse that he was from Toronto and he was unfamiliar. However, when she asked for the fare, he had nothing. This bus driver gave grace and allowed him to stay on despite not paying.

It got me thinking. We are told to enter God's kingdom through the front door as well.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!" John 10:1 NLT

Why would you choose to go through the back door or climb over a wall or some other nefarious route? You have been personally invited to come into His sheepfold and be apart of His family.

Now imagine that we look at the bus situation as God's kingdom. The bus driver is akin to God and what has happened is that Jesus stands at the front with God the Father paying each rider's fare. Paid in full!

Don't go in the back way. Accept the invitation, go through the correct door and receive the free fare.
