The Issue of Color...Or Is It?

Writer: TammanyTammany

Just as a preface, I am not saying that I am above anyone or that I don't bear any fault in my silence and ignorance. I hope to change and be better for the world. Also, I couldn't possibly know what my friends with different colored skin deal with regularly, but I would appreciate being educated.

As sad as I am to say this, there has been another injustice against a fellow man as a result of skin color. Not only injustice, but cold-blooded murder in front of on-lookers. I'm appalled. I'm sickened. I'm angry.

And I'm ashamed. I am ashamed because I was hardly aware of so many injustices and cruel actions happening TODAY. This should not be happening. I'm ashamed as a follower of Christ. What have we Christians been doing? Where is the peace?

Did we forget about a little thing called the Civil Rights movement? Did we just pass this over in our minds and somehow come to believe that it no longer mattered? It doesn't make sense to me.

And yet, sadly, it does make sense. I know that all humans "have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We are forever at war with ourselves and God because of sin. So these things that are happening that should not be happening, will continue to happen no matter what we do.

Until the whole world has bowed down in submission to the true King, there is no way that we can avoid hatred, injustice, violence, racism, murder, bigotry, prejudice, lust, thievery and other such evils. At the heart of man is evil and even we cannot free ourselves from it.

Christ came into the world to reconcile us to God. He made peace between us when there could be no peace, because our sin separated us from Him and made us enemies.

Once we are reunited with God, we are given power from Him to fight our natural, evil tendencies. He also calls us to bring peace to our fellow man.

By standing firm in the position we have in Christ, we can have peace and we can bring peace. I'm not sure that the worldwide church is doing this. We have failed mankind. Where is the peace, Church?

Are we standing on the sidelines and watching as the world goes down in flames? Are we withholding the truth of a Savior who rescues them from the deepest pit of Hell? Are we too concerned about our own spirituality that we don't care about the billions of other souls?

No, I say! We cannot do this. We must advance against the kingdom of darkness and break down barriers. We are ambassadors for His kingdom and we must fight in His name.

This was never a color issue, that is just the mask it wears. There are many issues out there that need to be addressed, but all of them are just wearing masks to hide their true identity. They are separation from God.

We, as disciples of Christ, must be bringing peace to mankind everywhere. They need the good news of reconciliation to God and their brothers and sisters. They need Jesus.
